Lattice Points in Large Borel Sets and Successive Minima

چکیده
Let B be a Borel set in E with volume V (B) = ∞. It is shown that almost all lattices L in E contain infinitely many pairwise disjoint d-tuples, that is sets of d linearly independent points in B. A consequence of this result is the following: let S be a star body in E with V (S) = ∞. Then for almost all lattices L in E the successive minima λ1(S,L), . . . , λd(S,L) of S with respect to L are 0. A corresponding result holds for most lattices in the Baire category sense. A tool for the latter result is the semi-continuity of the successive minima.

2 00 2 Successive Minima and Lattice Points
The main purpose of this note is to prove an upper bound on the number of lattice points of a centrally symmetric convex body in terms of the successive minima of the body. This bound improves on former bounds and narrows the gap towards a lattice point analogue of Minkowski’s second theorem on successive minima. Minkowski’s proof of his second theorem is rather lengthy and it was also criticis...
متن کاملSpatial statistics for lattice points on the sphere I: Individual results
We study the spatial distribution of point sets on the sphere obtained from the representation of a large integer as a sum of three integer squares. We examine several statistics of these point sets, such as the electrostatic potential, Ripley's function, the variance of the number of points in random spherical caps, and the covering radius. Some of the results are conditional on t...
متن کاملNotes on lattice points of zonotopes and lattice-face polytopes
Minkowski’s second theorem on successive minima gives an upper bound on the volume of a convex body in terms of its successive minima. We study the problem to generalize Minkowski’s bound by replacing the volume by the lattice point enumerator of a convex body. To this we are interested in bounds on the coefficients of Ehrhart polynomials of lattice polytopes via the successive minima. Our resu...
متن کاملLarge Deviations for Return times in Non-rectangle Sets for Axiom a Diffeomorphisms
For Axiom A diffeomorphisms and equilibrium states, we prove a Large deviations result for the sequence of successive return times into a fixed Borel set, under some assumption on the boundary. Our result relies on and extends the work by Chazottes and Leplaideur who considered cylinder sets of a Markov partition.
متن کاملLattice of full soft Lie algebra
In this paper, we study the relation between the soft sets and soft Lie algebras with the lattice theory. We introduce the concepts of the lattice of soft sets, full soft sets and soft Lie algebras and next, we verify some properties of them. We prove that the lattice of the soft sets on a fixed parameter set is isomorphic to the power set of a ...
